Congratulations, Ben. I start to drool every time I see a picture of that watch. It is a true classic beauty, and the ardoise dial is just outstanding. I agree that a brown strap looks terrific on ardoise, and a Santoni even better!
I'm sure going to look forward to mseeing more pictures of that beauty.

Ben,
I'm sure that Bill will agree it was our pleasure to host you at the Boutique last year and if it got you longing for another IWC all the better.
As for your new watch, many of us here have done just what you did, moved out some to acquire their grail. I did it in December to get my Blue dial PPC and while I miss some I have no regrets. Every time I look at that dial I just smile. IMHO you will feel the same way. You selected a great watch, enjoy and wear it in good health.

As Kevin noted it is our pleasure to be enablers. Like Kevin and you, I moved on a non IWC, but Richemont brand, to finance a yet to arrive IWC recently. Congratulations on the PPC; it's a beauty.

Perpetual Congratulations Ben - and welcome to the PPC club. You know there is an old American saying "There is no substitute...for a Portuguese Perpetual" :-)
A stunning piece, and just to make it clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a Portuguese Collection - and I know that you will never regret the choice you made!

Thanks Skule - and everyone else. Whilst I may end up with a Portuguese collection, then great thing is, if I wake up tomorrow and want a Portofino, I can just go out and get one and do away with the Portuguese collection idea (funds permitting of course), or who knows, in 12 months time, I may be back on track for a father son collection - the great thing with IWC and watches is that with a broad collection and a long history, there is something out there for almost everyone, we are not locked into one frame of mind.
After less than 24 hours, I have to say, I missed my 666 this morning. I try to make a habit of not wearing the same watch 2 days in a row and with 6, that was not to hard. The 666 added a dimension to my collection that not many others can - I wear suits a couple of days a weak and then semi formal the others and at present, the 666 and 5001 were the only ones I could get away with in a suit (and the MK XI I suppose) - the others are just too bulky in shirts and a suit so I found that the 666 was my go to watch in that it was small and discreet, went well formal or casual and was the "other" watch when I had worn the 5001 the day before. Now with "only" 3 watches, I found myself getting dressed this morning with a great dilemma - I had worn the 5001 yesterday and meeting schedules dictate that I am in a suit again today, but with the only other options being the Aquatimer 2000 on bracelet or the Top Gun Doppel - both of which are massive watches with a presence of their own, I was hard pressed to decide. I ended up with the Top Gun but fingers crossed by the end of today I will have a 4th option ready to go and am sure I will get over the 666 - never completely as it I am sure I will always have fond memories of it and who knows, may end up with another one down the track.
Not long now and I should have some updated photos (yep, I am waiting with great anticipation!!!!)
Cheers,
Ben

I just got back from picking my new watch up and have to say, I am sitting here with a big smile on my face as I type this :D
Not only did I just pick up my new 502218 White Gold, Ardoise dialled, Portuguese Perpetual Calendar, I also picked up a new macro lens for my camera so I can take some real shots of this watch and try and capture the beauty of the dial, all I need now is for one of my staff members to get back to the office with my car which has the camera in it and I will get some shots taken and online. Until then, I get to sit here with a smile on my dial and you get to wait...

As I learn more and more about IWC watches and not yet being a member of the PPC club, I have a question regarding this model.
In one of Ben's teriffic pic's, the shot that shows the camera pointed between the lugs, there are markings or something that I can't make out. I think I have seen this same thing on a few other PPC pic's in the past. What is it?
I'm sure going to look forward to mseeing more pictures of that beauty.

I will have to get a shot of the collection together when I get home so watch out for more.
