andy stevens Wrote:As I learn more and more about IWC watches and not yet being a member of the PPC club, I have a question regarding this model.
In one of Ben's teriffic pic's, the shot that shows the camera pointed between the lugs, there are markings or something that I can't make out. I think I have seen this same thing on a few other PPC pic's in the past. What is it?
Curious,
Andy
Hi Andy, They are markings to indicate the precious metal the case is made of - the gold (traditional yellow - red), white gold and platinum cases have variations of these markings to indicate which metal they are and the quality / karats of the metal.
Cheers,
Ben

I have just pulled out my IWC loupe (Thanks Bill!) and had a closer look at the markings and it is great to see the detail. The marking on the right is "750" surrounded by a set of scales (like the scales of justice) indicating .750 / 18 karat gold.
The marking on the left is a "halmark" I think (others please feel free to correct me here) and in this case it is the head of a large dog, what looks like a St Bernard (just googled it and found out that it is a St Bernard) - which is the swiss hallmark to indicate that the metal is a precious metal - there is meant to be a sub hallmark located on the ear of the St Bernard but my loupe is not strong enough to make out that kind of detail.

Congratualtions Ben. That Ardoise look terrific. And wearing a PPC is something really special. I am sure it will heal you from missing the one you have let go. Enjoy and wear it in good health.

A great thread. Congratulations, Ben. The ardoise PPC is a fascinating watch. Look forward to 31 December and yours will one of the first to click over into 2014.

Ben. Many congratulations. Great taste. I believe this watch will bring you a lifetime of happiness and become that heirloom, prized watch to accompany you through life's twists and turns. The photos look amazing. There's something about that dial color (I forget what it's called) which makes it so stunning.

Welcome to the club, Ben. Absolutely one of the watches I would never sell. If you get the chance, get a signature of Kurt Klaus on the manual - this makes the watch even more special.
