A couple of times in a year, I'd travel back to my home country Malaysia for holidays. It was Chinese New Year earlier this month in Pavilion Shopping Mall and here are some pictures on my way to a visit to the local IWC Boutique.
The management are not holding back on the decorations...
lion dance was going on in front of some of the shops, attracting crowds..
The boutique itself. From what I can observe, the stocks here are moving quite rapidly. All the boutique editions I saw a couple of weeks ago have almost all vanished along with some of the more popular models. With the influx of tourists and the all across duty-free pricing, that's not surprising.
I couldn't find what I was looking for here and settled for an Authorised Dealer across the street, it seems like the last known piece around.
It is truly an exceptional piece. I just love how it all comes together, from the elongated roman numerals, the pocket watch look and feel, to the flat and wide proportion, it's just satisfying. However, it is not without its problems. I found out later that the minute and hour hand would stop moving, while the second hand and everything else seen from the crystal back seems to be working fine. I suspect a slipping cannon pinion and hope that its an easy fix. I've already returned it to a boutique to be repaired under warranty. Can't wait to see it again!

Hi Vincent,
Thank you for the wonderful pictures and congratulations on the beautiful Portofino! Too bad it has to be repaired but I am sure you will get it back in pristine condition. Make sure to keep us posted and I am looking forward to more pictures of the watch.

Hi Vincent ! You have refreshed my memories of KL which is one of my fav Asian cities. Its always full of lively and friendly people. Visiting Pavillion mall, Star hill gallery, Fahrenheit 88 in Bukit Bintang were always top of my itinerary. Incidentally even i had picked my VC porofino from there. Its a beautiful piece and I am sure the issue with it will be rectified. Best wishes !

Great piece Vincent. Congratulations. There is one available since about 6 month at an AD here in Düsseldorf, and every time I see it, which is about every week, I am really tempted to pull the trigger. However, so far somehow I was able to resist.
