There are two nights a year when the perpetual calendar is really special: the 31st December and 28th February. At the year end, the wheel that shows the year moves just a few millimetres. This is not a rushed job. The perpetual calendar takes its time - none of this KERS nonsense. Digging through some photographs of an excellent New Year's eve party in the Lake District, I found some snaps I took of the movement of the year wheel.

Just remembered that the cameras will be busy for that change from 28th Feb - 1st March in one step. Sadly no perpetual in my flock but I do know that a certain person with excellent photo skills has a nice RG Portuguese perpetual that's just come back from Spa Town. Sorry Bill, your duties tomorrow night are to be found in the basement so be ready from 23.30.

Omar Khayyám (Persia XI-XII Century) offered that Time should not only be measured in length but also in width due to the intrinsic difference between a minute or other depending on what is happening to the beholder... I wonder how a watch would look like...

Excellent news, Clemens. Your message saved me from asking if anyone was planning a webcast of the event. Looking forward to the video.
