Hi all,
I am new to this forum so just wanted to say hi to everyone. I will be purchasing a 3714-45 in a few weeks and am just deciding on which strap to get. I was hoping to get a honey brown/cognac coloured OEM strap. After discussing this with an AD here in Toronto, they recommended the IWA 61841 from the 2012/2013 Workbook(?). I had a few questions:
1) Is there an electronic copy of the 2012/2013 Workbook available? or at least a scanned page of the current 3714 straps? I checked http://www.weeber.biz/ but it seems like 2007 was the last workbook uploaded for the 3714.
2) I looked at the 2007 Workbook and saw the IWA 28762 "Cognac" coloured strap. Is this the same as the IWA 61841 "Alligator Brown"? and if not, is there an equivalent to the cognac coloured strap in the current Workbook?

There is a 2009 on line data, but nothing later. Search for IWCForum strap 2009 PDF. Make sure you select a strap of the correct lug width and whether pin or deployant buckle.

Thank you Greg! that was actually very helpful!
I'm wondering if anyone here has a picture of a 3714-45 with a honey brown or cognac coloured strap? I know there is a difference between the two colours (former being more yellow, latter more red) but everytime I look at these straps I can't tell!

I believe the 3714 comes with a deployant clasp aka folding clasp, this is a recent change from about two years ago. On the 2009 list the 21/18mm straps have no folding clasp option straps. You will have to use the current dealer book options as listed or possibly widen your search options by buying a pin buckle. I would add two points though, A) deployant buckles are kinder to straps and consequently they last longer. B) deployant buckles help the watch sit a lot easier on the wrist than pin buckle which can leave the watch trying to rotate around your wrist unless you use a tighter hole for winter than summer.

Greetings Applecider and welcome to the Forum.
First, double check that you order the correct strap size for the 3714 as it is a 20/18mm. Strap lengths come in XS, Standard and XL. The current workbook offers a number of Pin/Tang buckle straps with color options unique to the 3714. I believe I have seen the "honey-brown" color you mentioned. In fact, I think there were about 3-4 shades of tan/browns to select from. As far as I know, the deployant buckle straps for the 3714 are only offered in Black, Brown and Dark Blue. Another option to get exactly what you want is to go after-market.
BTW, I like the variation you are considering. I have it and love it ! What's great about the silver dial/RG markers is that it looks great with the three basic color straps. I personally exchanged out the OEM Black to the Dark blue. It is a subtle change but really makes the "Blued" counter hands come to life. I also have the brown strap for a more dressier look. But as mentioned, the Port Chrono looks so good with just about all the color shades available.
Hope this helps in your decision making process and please show us the end results.

I must say, the support on this forum is amazing, a solid group of like minded IWC aficionados is just astounding! Thank you Greg and Andy for the helpful advice and hints.
I agree, the silver dial/RG markers makes it really easy to switch out straps, essentially making the watch appear like new. I just spoke to my AD and they said that if I had a current IWA number for the strap I wanted, they can probably dig it up. I attach a picture of the strap/dial combo that I am considering, does anyone know the actual IWA number for this or is it aftermarket?
*Note: In my fury to collect as many photos of this combination as possible, I neglected to mark down where I got it from. If any owners of these photos objects to this, please let me know and I will credit you or take it down.

Applecider...you just put a big smile on my face with that shot. Pretty hard not to like that combination.
Only my opinion, but based on the blackened border edge I would say it is a aftermarket item. Haven't seen a IWC with that finishing. None the less, a wonderful pairing. Like I said previously, so many chroc strap shades work well with the color palette used in the makeup of the 3714-45.
Since workbooks are propriatery to retail dealers, most ( that I've come in contact with ) will allow customers to browse through to see the visual contents and reference numbers.
Should anyone have the opportunity to get a shot of the 3714 strap option page from the workbook to post, that would be something I believe all would appreciate if permissible.
Hope the short wait to get your 3714 passes quickly and can't wait to see some wristshots of the final strap decision. Great watch..Great choice!
