Friday, 8 March: after touching down at JFK, checking into my hotel, a shower and a change of clothes, I set off for the IWC Boutique on Madison and a gathering with fellow collectors.
On entering the Boutique, a few hellos, a glass of champagne and straight into examining the new collection of Ingenieurs.
I cannot compete with Bill’s fine description of the GTG, so a few of my pictures and maybe the odd comment.
I fell in love with this pocket watch …
You can’t have too many Big Pilots but I you have to pick just one, the German fussball limited edition has to be high on the list (supported by the immaculate recently serviced PPC).
An immaculate Ardoise suit …
After the reception at the Boutique, we walked to a nearby restaurant where Gianfranco and our marvellous IWC hosts had organised a superb dinner. The party went on until 1 am when I began to feel somewhat jetlagged.
The next morning, we arranged to meet at the Boutique before checking out some local horological emporia. Unlike the previous day which dumped snow on the Big Apple, it was a beautiful spring morning to head towards Madison Avenue.
At the Boutique …
If it wasn’t for the limited luggage space on my flight, I would have bought the GOAT tome which comes with a free watch.
Still looking for DFB BPs to strafe …
Bill’s out of body experience…
Heading off for the first emporium
A still from Reservoir Dogs ….
Checking out the competition …
Kevin booked a private room for an informal lunch with some Big Pilots.
Grace was said before we ate …
The mandatory (and rather impressive) table shots
A big thank you to Michael and everyone at IWC, Dick, Kevin and the other collectors who made it such a special and worthwhile excursion from the UK.

Ralph, I wish I had that body, even if extraterrestrial. My big belly needs a huge trimming. Very nice report. We all had a great time together. It is especially nice when you traveled so far to make the weekend a success. See you in Amsterdam for a reprise.

Great report Ralph, it was fantastic that you traveled that far to join in our GTG. Once again thanks for helping to make it a fun time and for posting the story of our time together. Your platinum double chrono blue dial is beyond words.

As ever a most enjoyable suite of impressive photographs. The Ingenieur with the electric blue markers certainly catches the eye.

Really enjoyed seeing you again. Hope it's not such a long time before the next meet.
