Here is another watch that has just been finished by my watchmaker and returned back to me. A cal 49, the forerunner of the legendary Cal 52. In fact when I first saw it, I thought it was a Cal 52 ;-)...Well I suppose your never to old to learn. I went through the old postings on these and only a couple came up, one belonging to our special friend Adrian. Our movemnt and case numbers being not far apart, so I´m in good company with this piece. :-) As far as I have found out up till now, the watch was originaly delivered to a dealer in Leipzig, Germany, who inturn sold it to a jeweler in Magdeburg, Germany. I´ll know exactly when the extract from the archives arrive.
The movement number is 30053 and the case number is 39740. This is what Date your IWC tells me; 1888 30,051-32,150 Lép. c. Elgin III 19lig. à vue (c. 49)
Here for those who haven´t seen one of these in full detail, here she is, complete and naked ;-)
