I re-post this post as originally posted by Terry. The video is still out there - and certainly worth the time to watch.
Terry Russell posted on March 25, 2007 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is said that time takes its toll, but perhaps life pays the toll and time only keeps the books. At any rate, be it watch or watchmaker, 96-years is a long time to mark passage.
I recently sent a 96-year old Cal 52 back to Schaffhausen. My local watchmaker took some great movement photos but found more damage during the service than he cared to tackle, feeling instead that such a watch deserved to be returned to its "home". So to home it has now traveled.
The link below is to a brief, though large .wmv file that shows a bit of the toll time has recorded on this watch, and though my bandwidth might be modest, if you get it to play at all, I hope you will enjoy.

I visited with Terry just a few weeks ago (He and I are the only members in the North Carolina Chapter of the IWC Fan Club) and got to see and handle this watch in person. I have a very similar example: Same size, both originally delivered to South America, built perhaps 1-2 years apart. It was fun comparing and contrasting the two.

Watches show the time flow, time to watch the watch show.
