Does anyone have any idea of the model and when made? Also, is there supposed to be 'bezel' around the crystal and if so, what would the part number be?

Welcome to the forum and great find. If you had sent that to your nearest authorised dealer then it could have gone for spa treatment in Schaffhausen. The results would be a watch as near new condition but it does take several months and is not cheap. Something for you to consider.

Congratulations on your great find. It's a bit hard to see the movement number and impossible to see the case number. I guess the movement number starts with 150xxxx. That would be a cal. 853 made in 1959. JK
Don't know whether this pic will be any better to view on forum, but the movement number is 1669949 and the case number is 1649738.. which dates the watch around 1963-4..
This is what the watchmaker found inside..
and this is how it turned out..

And, yeah, a Schaffhausen SPA treatment will definitely make it look new but personally I like the "recordings of life" by the user marks and patina.
And no, I'm sure, there is no bezel missing on this one.
