I am about to buy a perfectly mint NOS IWC 2002 Electronic with a Beta21 movement. Does anyone have any thoughts whether the 40y old movement needs any servicing and whether I can use todays standard batteries with 1.55 volts rather than the 1.35 volts used in the70s?
Thanks for your help!

The Beta21 used Mercury-Zinc-Batteries (MR xxx).
In most countries, mainly in Europe this battery type is forbidden.
Now Silver-Zinc- batteries are used (SR xxx).
It is not recommended to use 1.55V Batteris in the Betea 21.
In Taiwan there is still a producer of mercury batteries.
May-be in the archive you could find some recommendation what to do.
