zambo Wrote:I was lucky enough to acquire this lovely Golf Club recently (sitting alongside the YC I wear everyday - apologies for the average pic). Acknowledged as not large in terms of production numbers (nor size for that matter at 34mm - but being square wears a little larger) and not to everyone's taste, it is nonetheless powered by that fine movement cal 854 and has a shape that just screams 70's style (which based upon my other IWC's is perfectly in sync). However the reason for posting here is actually to thank the kind hands that this watch travelled through to get to me in Australia. From Netherlands to Geneva, then onto Singapore and finally to Brisbane - all hand carried by total strangers (4 good souls in all if we count the vendor). This is only possible if you have trust and can exercise that faith with the confidence afforded by a community like the one we are privileged to enjoy here.I won't embarrass the people involved by naming them though they clearly know who they are and know the thanks I have expressed privately to them.As to whether I will add the "necessary" Polo to complete the Club "club" in my collectionI am not sure, but one never knows what will pop up when you make an idle remark on this forum and a subsequent polite email arrives letting you know of an opportunity! As is often said (when chasing vintage IWC's anyway), the chase is often more important then the ultimate ownership. For me it was actually on this occasion the kindness of strangers (all now friends) in the act of getting a watch to its new home.CheersRichard
