Need help with vintage IWC identification!

Hello forum subscribers,
a few months ago my grandfather gave me his vintage IWC watch, shortly before passing away. I know not much about this watch other than the fact that he bought it in the 70's most likely. There were no papers to be found, which could help finding out the exact model or the date of purchase. The grey leather pouch with the IWC logo on it (you can see it on the second picture) was the only original accessory that came with it. The metal wristband is not by IWC, but some German wristband manufacturer.
Since I have no experiences with the IWC brand, let alone vintage models, I would appreciate your help in finding out what kind of watch has fallen into my hands there. I also apologize in advance for the low resolution pictures, since I only have an Iphone available at the moment to shoot them.
Thank you very much for your efforts in advance!

Try the vintage catalog site which may show it.
To post pictures here use photobucket and put the file address of each picture in your post.

a few spontaneous thoughts:
- Date window location indicates calibre 8521 or 8531
- Case style indicates 50's or 60's (supports period of above-mentioned calibres
- Dial logo script style indicates a replaced dial, probably 90's. The grey pouch may underline that.
- Hands look like the ones from Yacht Club
- Run the movement and case numbers through the Date-Your-IWC application
Just unorganized views from my vacation hotel room...
watch the time...
