I'm pleased to pass along some news. Effective tomorrow, December 1, Benoit de Clerck will become President of IWC North America.
Eveline Jones, Bernards' predecessor, is retiring " to pursue interests outside the world of business". Eveline in my opinion has done a superb job --beyond all expectations in every respect. While she will be missed and is a "hard act to follow", I'm really looking forward to working Bernard.
Bernard has been with Richemont since August 2000 and most recently was the managing director of Richemont's watch division in the Middle East. Orignally from Belgium, he has known Georges Kern, IWC's CEO, for some time and has several ties to North America.
I talked briefly to Bernard a few weeks ago and will be meeting with him shortly, after he settles in. I must say that I was very impressed: he understands the industry and he's very personable --really a good guy. North America is a growing and important market for IWC, and I absolutely believe he'll do a great job.
