DISCOVER HOW SUPERMODEL AND POWERHOUSE MOM GISELE BÜNDCHEN MANAGES HER PACKED SCHEDULE AND FINDS “ME TIME”
Art Basel Miami buzzed as IWC welcomed supermodel Gisele Bündchen for an intimate chat with watch editor Malaika Crawford. Against the backdrop of The Brass Museum and sporting the Ingenieur Automatic 40, Gisele shared her tips for balancing a hectic schedule, fashion, and family time, and revealed the benefits of rising at 5 a.m.
VISION IN A SNAPSHOT
What does art mean to you?
I love art. I think we are all creative beings, and art is a wonderful way to express how we are feeling. Art Basel in Miami allows so many people to see how different artists have expressed themselves. I love that.
What do art and fashion have in common?
I think fashion is a form of art. Fashion captures a style in time. I’ve been in this business for almost 30 years. It’s so much fun to see the intentions and ideas of designers, and how together with the photographer and the creative teams they bring their visions to life in one single image.
Which watch are you wearing today?
I am wearing the Ingenieur Automatic 40 with the Aqua dial. It was inspired by the river. My astrology sign is Cancer, and I like the element of water. The blue gives a little pop of color. This design looks good with everything. It’s very versatile.
It’s a unisex watch that anyone can wear. You can wear it day or evening and works with almost any outfit. I love that you can be dressed down or dressed up, from red carpet to everyday running-around-mom-style. Best of all it’s very comfortable. I love that because I’m always rushing, and running from one place to the next. No time to change.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SELF-CARE
How do you take care of yourself?
The most important thing for me is to start my day right. I feel the way you start sets the energy for your entire day. If you wake up late with the alarm ringing and running late, you feel like you need to catch up for the rest of the day. So, I’m very mindful of the time I wake up.
Just like you recharge your phone at night, you have to recharge yourself. I’m making sure I have enough sleep. I go to bed at 10 p.m. because I wake up at 5 a.m. I get up before sunrise, and I like to have time to meditate, do some yoga, walk my dog, and prepare breakfast for the kids. I like to do everything in peace, and when everything is calm and quiet. That’s how I fill up my cup, so I am able to give more.
What brings you joy in life?
What I enjoy most is watching my kids grow up and see how they’re changing every day. I get to work on myself through them because I want to be the best version of myself for them. They’re very inspiring to me. They’re constantly challenging me to work on different things that I didn’t know I needed to. They remind me of that, to constantly do my best.

GISELE’S NEW BOOK: “NOURISH”
What’s next for you?
I’ve been working on a cookbook, “Nourish,” which is coming out in March 2024. I’m a person who enjoys sharing things that are good and have helped me. I have five sisters, so I regularly share recipes with my sisters. I wrote the book because I wanted to share my favorite quick, simple, and yummy recipes with more people because food is such an important thing.
If you choose the right, healthy food, you’re going to feel better. But a lot of people feel overwhelmed in the kitchen and don’t know what to cook. So, my whole book is about organizing and managing your time because everybody is busy.
How did you come up with the idea to write a cookbook?
My mom had six kids, so it was all about how she prepped and organized the whole week. If you get organized, you can make sure to get all the produce and nothing goes to waste. My whole book is about nutritious and delicious but simple quick recipes that everyone can make. I am not a chef, but I like to know what I put in my body.
What would you like your professional legacy to be?
In the fashion industry, I’m proud of my professionalism. I’ve always been a person who is very dedicated to what I do. I love the idea of teamwork. I hope to be remembered as a good person who helped the people around me. That’s important to me: Being a good person and creating goodness around me… That’s what I want to leave behind.
