ENGINEERED ERGONOMICS.

The seamless integration of the bracelet not only contributes to the unique design but also offers compelling advantages concerning ergonomics. For the Ingenieur Automatic 40, IWC engineered a middle-link attachment, providing an excellent fit on the wrist. The proportions and flexibility of each link have been perfected to the smallest detail.

TECHNIK

ROBUST MOVEMENT INSIDE.

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 is powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 caliber. Consisting of 164 components, this automatic movement is remarkably robust, reliable and precise. The anti-magnetic silicon escapement improves its resistance to magnetic fields. The automatic pawl-winding system builds up a power reserve of 120 hours in the barrel.

GÉRALD GENTA

DESIGN GENIUS.

Gérald Genta was born in Geneva on 1 May 1931. After completing his apprenticeship as a goldsmith, he went into business as a watch designer, establishing a profession that had not previously existed. His legendary steel luxury sports watches with fully integrated bracelets, defined a product category unknown to the Swiss watch industry in the 1970s.

INGENIEUR SL

In the 1970s, IWC commissioned Gérald Genta to redesign the Ingenieur. Genta’s Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832, was launched in 1976. Its strong aesthetic codes such as the screw-on bezel with five recesses, the dial with a special structure and the integrated H-link bracelet have shaped the history of the IWC Ingenieur to this day.
