Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Chinese New Year”

1 February marks the beginning of the Year of the Water Tiger. People born in a Tiger year are known for possessing traits such as bravery, power, competitiveness, and self-confidence. Courageous and authoritative, they are often adventurers who dare to be pioneers in their line of work and natural leaders that others gravitate to and admire.

IWC Schaffhausen celebrates the arrival of the Year of the Tiger with the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Chinese New Year”. Limited to 500 pieces, this sporty yet elegant chronograph features a striking burgundy dial and a matching calfskin strap. Burgundy is a charming variation of the bright red colour typically used to welcome the New Year in China. Symbolizing vitality, longevity, happiness and success, red is also believed to bring good luck.

The dial impresses with the iconic design in the style of an easy-to-read cockpit instrument, which has become the hallmark of IWC’s Pilot’s Watches.

However, the true highlight of this limited edition only becomes visible when turning the watch and marveling at the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre through the sapphire glass case back. The rotor of the automatic winding system takes the shape of a tiger. Depicted running and leaping, the tiger serves as a reminder of the coming year while emphasizing the traits of people born under the sign of this zodiac animal.
