THE IWC PROFESSIONAL PILOT’S CHRONOGRAPH COLLECTION: YOU’LL NEVER GET CLOSER TO A JET COCKPIT

IWC Schaffhausen has launched three new chronographs in its Pilot’s Watches collection. The new ceramic models are directly inspired by timepieces that the brand created in the context of its ‚IWC-Military‘ programme in collaboration with some of the most renowned fleet squadrons as well as the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron “Blue Angels®”. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Editions “Royal Maces”, “Tophatters” and “Blue Angels®” all feature the respective squadron patch on the dial and eye-catching details in the corresponding unit’s colour scheme.

Today, IWC continues this dialogue within the frame of its military program, which emerged from the brand’s partnership with the U.S. Navy. Since 2018, IWC has been licensed to work on watches for the entire U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviation units, including Blue Angels® and the 247 active and 100 inactive squadrons.

IWC releases three new chronographs in its Pilot’s Watches collection, which are directly inspired by the brand’s collaborations with U.S. Navy squadrons. The annual production of these chronographs will be limited to 500 pieces each.

IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN PRESENTS THE FIRST LAUREUS SPECIAL EDITION IN BLUE CERAMIC

IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled the Pilot’s Watch Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good”. The timepiece is the 15th special edition that the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer has created to support the work of Laureus Sport for Good. For the first time, a hard and scratch-resistant blue ceramic case complements the dial in the trademark Laureus blue. On the case back, there is an engraving of the winning entry from the drawing competition that IWC organizes each year within all the programmes of Laureus Sport for Good worldwide.

The Pilot’s Watch Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” (Ref. IW328101) is the 15th Laureus special edition. It comes with an exclusive first: In addition to the dial in the trademark Laureus blue, a blue ceramic case has been used for the first time. The dark blue hue of the ceramic is the result of a complex manufacturing process. Powdered zirconium oxide is mixed with other metallic oxides, shaped, and then sintered in a furnace. Coloured ceramics place enormously high demands on the quality and purity of the raw materials. On the blue dial designed to mimic a cockpit instrument, the time can be read at a glance. Thanks to the luminescent coating, this is possible even at night.

IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN DESIGNS THE INSPIRATION4 CHRONOGRAPHS TO SUPPORT THE WORLD’S FIRST ALL-CIVILIAN MISSION TO ORBIT

To support Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit, IWC Schaffhausen has designed and donated a series of unique, space-themed Pilot’s Watch Chronographs representing the mission’s values of Leadership, Hope, Generosity and Prosperity. The watches will be worn by the four crew members on their journey into space, before being auctioned as part of the mission’s aim to raise funds for and promote the life-saving work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Inspiration4” features a case made of stunning white ceramic. The unique colour results from a complex manufacturing process in which zirconium oxide is mixed with other metallic oxides in a precisely defined ratio. With a Vickers rating second only to that of diamond, engineering ceramic ranks among the hardest substances on the planet. The dark blue lacquered dial has been padprinted with countless stars and captures the depth and darkness of space. It also features the Inspiration4 logo. Inside beats the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre chronograph movement. On each of the four watches, the titanium case back has been engraved with the name and mission value represented by the respective crew member. The chronographs are fitted with an eyecatching white rubber strap with a leather inlay.

FREESTYLE SKIER AND MODEL EILEEN GU JOINS THE IWC FAMILY

IWC Schaffhausen is proud to welcome Eileen Gu to the brand’s universe. Shortly before her 18th birthday, the prodigy is a medal-winning freestyle skier, sought-after fashion model and future university student. She is the perfect embodiment of a multifaceted modern woman, using her voice to drive representation and inclusion in her sport, aiming to inspire and empower a whole new generation of girls and women across the globe.

As a teenager, Eileen Gu has accomplished more than many others have in a lifetime. Born in 2003 in San Francisco to an American father and a Chinese mother, she is a rising Freeski star, a successful fashion model and an aspiring university student. She started recreational skiing aged three, before delving into the world of freestyle skiing when she was eight. Freeski is an action-packed extreme sport that involves spectacular acrobatic skills like flips, spins and slides. Her most significant achievement to date came at the X Games 2021 in Aspen, Colorado, where she made history as the first rookie woman ever to win three medals. Just two months later, she claimed three more medals at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships.

“I always believed sport has no boundaries. It’s one of the best vehicles to unite people, promote understanding, forge friendships, and create bridges between cultures. With IWC, I share the absolute will to achieve perfection and the clear focus on excellence – values also represented by the other talented athletes in the brand’s universe. I am looking forward to our collaboration,” says Eileen Gu.
