Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince
Highly resistant to corrosion and tarnishing, the rarest of all precious metals retains its whitish shine and brilliance indefinitely. Another stand-out design feature of IWC Schaffhausen’s special editions in honour of “The Little Prince” is the deep blue dial with an intricate sunray finish. The rhodium-plated hands and applied numerals are filled with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring easy legibility. This watch is fitted with a brown calfskinstrap with a platinum folding clasp. The flying minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock consists of 56 parts and weighs only 0.635 grams. Thanks to the integrated tourbillon stop, it can be brought to a complete halt, allowing the wearer to set the time with down-to-the-second accuracy. Components like the pallet lever and the escape wheel are treated with a special coating. This proprietary technology called Diamond Shell® reduces friction, improves the flow of energy in the movement and contributes to a high power reserve of 80 hours. The Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82905 caliber with a Pellaton winding system. Parts of the winding system that are subject to high stresses are manufactured from virtually wear-free zirconium oxide ceramic. The oscillating mass takes the shape of “The Little Prince” standing on his asteroid B 612, which is covered by baobab plants. This design detail is a charming reminder of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novel, which continues to entertain and inspire both children and adults.
