What you do may not be so important, but it is very important that you do it well. (my variation of a saying by Gandhi)

Still, other top brands produce very nice titanium watches too. Are they making a loss on them? Quite probably not, but I understand that IWC has the opinion that they sell more watches if they "make the titanium watches out of steel".Kind regards,Paul, wearing steel VC Portuguese (yes, the spell is broken, the "other one" gets some well deserved rest)

That obviously will represent the preponderance of new models, and is consistent with IWC's philosophy of revising one product line every year. And, while the Portofino line is not as popular with some collectors as other lines, it is a major seller. And the Portofino Vintage Collection Moonphase is a strong model, at least for a manual wind movement.I really don't know yet about the specifics of the new models. But --and some of you will react in disbelief-- I actually have dreams about IWC watches. Weird, I know, but I live IWC and I guess sleep IWC.A few days ago I dreamt that all the new Portofinos were 46mm. They were all variations of the VC Moonphase --a time only model, a complicated model, an 8-day automatic, etc. And then I woke up, and thought I was dead-wrong. The line is a big seller because several of the models are "basic", and that size won't work for all.No hints, really. I haven't heard yet.

Paul Bloemen Wrote in reply to:Nad Wrote:Paul, you are making a lot of assumptions!!!Hi Nad,Love your pictures travelling around the world. I particularly liked the ceramic Da Vinci at your wrist, could imagine you buying one.The message about titanium and titanium watches at IWC was made by a top manager of IWC at the collectors' meeting in Schaffhausen 2009, put in my words. The only daring statement is my answer of my own question about the possible loss of other brands on titanium watches. It was more a polite opinion than a statement. But some of these titanium watches are so beautiful that it would be a pity if they incurred a loss despite their beauty. So, I would like to encourage IWC to make some interesting titanium watches when there is only a small profit, these watches fill a niche and provide a little bit more diversity. I really might buy a titanium Ingenieur Chrono, where I will not buy the steel one because of the weight.Enjoy a well deserved quiet weekend!Kind regards,Paul, wearing steel (here quite appropriate) VC Pilot's watch, with its nice big numbers
