Whether it’s a twelve-hour long-haul to the tropics, a weekend in a new city, or a staycation only a few hours from home, Sarah-Louise and Christopher's travel essentials remain a consistent staple for their journeys around the globe.
As an adventure approaches, packing can be a stressful and unenviable task, so preparation and organisation are key to ensuring a sense of calm when preparing for your forthcoming trip.
Take stock of the items you are planning to bring by laying them out in outfits, and roll - don’t fold - to make the most of the space in your suitcase. We like to make sure all our clothes are washed and ironed, our camera batteries and laptops are charged, and we have organised all the appropriate travel essentials to set us up for a seamless journey.
We love to collect a Wallpaper City Guide for each destination we visit. Full of hidden gems and architectural wonders, they are the perfect travel companion and a stylish addition to your bookshelves at home. Always leave a little room for trinkets and souvenirs you may pick up along the way. One of our favourite parts of travelling is collecting items that reignite the memories and moments we cherish.
Start with the basics
We love to strike the perfect balance between the classic and the contemporary. This can be echoed in most of our travel essentials, whether it’s our IWC timepieces, our Globetrotter luggage, or our camera equipment.
In the age of smart phone technology and digital SLRs, photography can have a way of losing its charm, so we always like to pack a 35mm pocket camera to capture personal moments with a bit more depth, to create something tangible and timeless that we can treasure forever, a nod to the yesteryear.
Once a year, pack your bags and go someplace you haven’t been before
Music To Our Ears
We always carry a light laptop and a quality pair of headphones that help passing time in transit a little easier, especially on those long-haul journeys. Before each trip, we recommend curating a playlist to suit your destination. Music has a clever way of creating serenity among the chaos of a busy airport, but can also be enjoyed to the fullest once you have arrived. We often carry a portable speaker to soundtrack the tranquil moments in a hotel room as you get ready for dinner, or for lying by the pool, cocktail in hand.
Always On Time
Our timepieces are an integral part of traveling, switching time zones can often be tricky, but our IWC timepieces always ensure a flawless transition from one destination to the next. We opt for sportier styles like the IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Edition "Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau" (IW376805) when heading to the beach and a classic choice like our iconic IWC Portofino Chronograph (IW391008) for city breaks.
