THE JOURNAL

The IWC “Tourbillon School”

Learn the history of one of the most innovative concepts to hail from IWC’s Apprentice Workshop, the “Tourbillon School”, and the man who sparked the imagination of hundreds of young watchmakers, Walter Baumann. Download the special white paper below.

The IWC Apprentice Workshop was founded 50 years ago with the aim of training the watchmakers of tomorrow. One man was instrumental in the success of that workshop, Walter Baumann. Awarded IWC’s “Probus Scafusia” prize in 2006 for his life dedication to watchmaking, Baumann was behind the development of comprehensive training programs for apprentices. In addiiton, he was part of IWC’s effort to develop its own tourbillon.

IWC Museum Curartor David Seyffer delves into the history of the Apprentice Workshop, including the “Tourbillon School” in this special downloadable report. IWC is also celebrating the beauty of the tourbillon with a special exhibit at the IWC Museum until the end of May 2019.
