Biography
Dev Patel is the son of Indian parents and was born in London. Even as a child, he was fascinated by acting and appeared in several school drama productions. Still a schoolboy, he had his debut as a professional actor in 2007 in the British teen drama television series "Skins." A year later he was selected to play the title role in "Slumdog Millionaire," a movie that made him internationally famous and, in 2009, took eight Oscars and four Golden Globe Awards. Patel himself has won many accolades, including a British Independent Film Award and a National Board of Review Award, both for best breakthrough performance by an actor.
