INSPIRED BY GERALD GENTA’S INGENIEUR SL, THE NEW AUTOMATIC MODEL COMBINES MODERN TECHNOLOGY, ERGONOMIC DESIGN AND TOP-NOTCH FINISHING WITH A BOLD ‘70S AESTHETIC
AHEAD OF ITS TIME – THE INGENIEUR SL 1832
No doubt, you are already familiar with Gérald Genta’s renowned Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 from the 1970s. Affectionally referred to as “Jumbo” because of its case diameter of 40mm – an impressive size back then - Genta’s Ingenieur was way ahead of its time.
By introducing a new watch material (steel), innovative technology, and a groundbreaking design that challenged traditional notions of watchmaking, it literally disrupted the watch industry. And it is still making waves today.
The Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 is still considered one of the most sought-after watches among collectors and connoisseurs…
And I just happen to be a bold, modern-take on this timeless masterpiece.

THAT “GRID” DIAL
Allow me to elucidate.
You see, my case dimensions have been reworked to perfection, with a lug-to-lug distance of 45.7 millimeters that ensures an ideal fit on the wrist. My bezel is secured with polygonal screws that have a technical function and keep the design consistent. My dial features a "Grid" structure which was stamped into the soft iron blank and galvanized, while my appliques – how can I forget my appliques – glisten with luminescence, adding depth and ensuring legibility even in the dark.
Of course, I’m available in no less than three stainless-steel versions with dials in black (Ref. IW328901), silver-plated (Ref. IW328902), and aqua (Ref. IW328903), and one particular version in super-light titanium (Ref. IW328904) - because who says watches have to be heavy?
The watch experts at IWC Schaffhausen have gone all-out in my titanium outfit - a material that’s a whole one-third lighter than steel. And let’s not forget its skin-friendly and anti-allergic properties – practically perfect for your wrist. However, as I am sure you know, that titanium is not all sunshine and rainbows. It’s also a palaver to work with!
Fortunately, IWC has a handle on it. As pioneers of titanium watches in the ‘80s, they have maintained their prowess in “Form und Technik”, and my grade 5 titanium case and bracelet versions are no exception!

FULLY VERSATILE SPORTS WATCH
Point of note: My elegance isn’t just skin-deep.
I’m also equipped with modern movement technology. And being that I am water-resistant up to 10 bar, let’s deep-dive under the surface: I am powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 caliber, featuring a power reserve of 120 hours. Made to withstand the pressures of life, my soft-iron inner case protects me from any magnetic fields.
To top it all off, I am dressed with an integrated H-link bracelet, with the first four links closed, and a butterfly folding clasp, both elaborately finished in a combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces that highlight my outstanding craftsmanship.
Finally, a newly designed crown protection adds to my sporty character.
In short, with my modern design and impeccable finishing, I dare say that I’m the ultimate luxury sports watch for the 21st century. A watchmaker’s dream that is sure to turn heads wherever I go.
