The TOP GUN line has been part of IWC’s Pilot’s Watch collection since 2007. In just over a decade, TOP GUN references have become a symbol of modern flight and “the need for speed”. Watch enthusiast Justin Hast and IWC Museum Curator Dr. David Seyffer take us on a high-altitude cruise through the history of the TOP GUN line in our latest installment of “Time Flies”. Discover this adventurous journey and all technical details of the chosen timepieces presented in the videos below with our two watch enthusiats.
Pilot’s Watch Chronograph, Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph TOP GUN Ceratanium, Pilot’s Watch Double Chrono TOP GUN Ceramic.
In this installment, David and Justin discuss three versions of IWC’s TOP GUN references, explaining the challenges and triumphs behind designing a Pilot’s Watch that could be a tool watch and stylish at the same time.
Pilots Watch Mark XII (1994) and the Pilot’s Watch Automatic Top Gun (2019)
The Mark 11 set the stage for all Pilot’s Watches back in 1948. IWC continued this design tradition with Mark XII in 1994 and 25 years later with the Pilot’s Watch Automatic TOP GUN. In our second video, David and Justin discuss the transition from the Mark 11 to the Automatic TOP GUN and how IWC remained true to the Pilot’s Watch design code.
Porsche Design Ocean Bund for Mine Divers, Pilot’s Watch Chronograph (3705) and the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition SFTI
IWC’s tradition of providing watches for the military covers not just above, but below as well. In the final video of our TOP GUN series, David and Justin highlight the relationship between two vintage military watches from IWC and the new TOP GUN Edition SFTI. David also includes two special TOP GUN watches that represent achievement in the cockpit and life.
