DISCOVER THE PORTUGIESER CHRONOGRAPH YEAR OF THE DRAGON (REF. IW371629)
In the rich symbolism of Chinese culture, the Dragon reigns supreme as a symbol of power, courage, and innovation. Much more than a mere mythical creature, it is a profoundly significant figure.

DRAGON ROTOR: GOLD ELEGANCE IN EVERY TURN
As the Year of the Dragon approaches in 2024, it bodes renewal, inspiration, and an ideal spotlight for me: the limited edition Portugieser Chronograph Year of the Dragon (Ref. IW371629). Picture me as more than a watch. I’m a canvas, a blend of craftsmanship and symbolism intertwined with the ancient heritage of Chinese culture.
At the core of my allure lies a standout feature: the mesmerizing gold-plated rotor, a dragon in all its mythical glory. Look closer, and you’ll see more than a dragon. It’s a tapestry of creatures, each weaving a tale of litheness and resilience. The body of a serpent, scales of a carp, antlers of a stag, face of a camel, talons of eagles, and ears of a bull — each element deepens the narrative, turning me into more than a time-telling device. I am a symbol, a bridge connecting traditional and contemporary.
BURGUNDY FOR LUCK AND LONGEVITY
I’m limited to only 1,000 pieces, while my 41-millimeter steel case cradles a burgundy dial — paying homage to the vibrancy of the Lunar New Year festivities. Every etching on my surface is a nod to the cultural richness that defines Chinese traditions. The fiery burgundy hues symbolize luck and longevity, aligning with the occasion’s auspicious spirit. Peek through the sapphire case back, and you’ll discover the IWC-manufactured caliber 69355 — a robust precision mechanical chronograph.

MODERN-TRADITIONAL UNITY
Filippo Morini, the brilliant illustrator behind the “Finding Kurt Klaus” campaign, captures this synergy between traditional and contemporary elements in our Lunar New Year campaign video. “The main message is to wish for a global celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, uniting communities of people that live far away from each other,” Morini explains. “Creating this dragon in a classic, hand-drawn style took a ton of time and care. I delved into dragon mythology, brainstormed ideas with the IWC team, and sketched until we nailed down the perfect design. It was a challenging but super rewarding project—I’m thrilled with how it turned out!”
