PINK PROWESS
What do you get when you combine two of the coolest sports icons of our time, two A-list actors, a charity organization, and a fierce game of basketball? You get the IWC Chrono Challenge, that’s what. The event pitted Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton against actors and athletes in a friendly match held in the heart of Miami’s Design District.
Team Pink, led by Hamilton, boasted famous faces like Hollywood actor James Marsden and former NFL player Antrel Rolle. On the opposing side, Team Green, captained by Simu Liu, showcased the talents of Dibia DREAM’s founder and CEO Brandon Okpalobi, and world champion and Olympic skateboarder Jagger Eaton, who recently became an IWC brand ambassador.
The teams fiercely competed in three skill challenges, including lay-ups, free throws, and one-on-one games. F1 legend and IWC brand ambassador David Coulthard hosted the event, while Hollywood actress Monica Barbaro kept score and time.
PREMIERE OF THE MIAMI PINK RUBBER STRAP
Adding to the excitement was the presentation of the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team timepiece – for the first time sporting an eye-catching Miami Pink rubber strap. Hamilton and his crew proudly donned this watch combination, while Team Green showcased the version with a green rubber strap. Crafted from durable grade 5 titanium—a material pioneered by IWC in the 1980s—the watch is built to withstand extreme pressure, offering corrosion resistance and skin-friendly comfort. Equipped with the IWC-manufactured 69385 caliber movement, a robust chronograph comprising 242 parts, it boasts an impressive 46-hour power reserve.
Yet, amidst all the excitement, the true star of the event was the incredible charity organization Dibia DREAM. Dedicated to using STEM education and sports to empower underprivileged youth in Miami, their mission resonated deeply with Hamilton. As ball boys and girls, some of the program’s inspiring kids had the opportunity to be part of the action, making it a slam dunk for charity. In Hamilton’s words, “Today, we had the opportunity to connect with the fantastic kids from the local Miami community, thanks to Dibia DREAM. They show that through education, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”

DIBIA DREAM’S SUPPORT OF STEM PROJECTS
Jungle Plaza came alive once again as we continued our Miami takeover with an inspiring panel discussion featuring skateboarding champ Jagger Eaton on day two. Joined by Olympic legend Edwin Moses and Rachelle Patel from Laureus, the event aimed to empower girls and promote STEM education.
The day started with Dibia DREAM’s engaging STEM activities for girls, setting the stage for a powerful collaboration between IWC, Laureus Sport for Good, and Dibia DREAM. Jagger Eaton, IWC’s newest brand ambassador, shared his personal journey and the valuable lesson he learned from skateboarding: never giving up. The discussion shed light on Laureus’ impactful work and IWC’s commitment to community engagement. Jagger even amazed the kids with his impressive skateboarding skills, leaving everyone inspired to push their limits.
PHILANTHROPY, SPORTSMANSHIP, EMPOWERMENT
On day three, Jungle Plaza witnessed a captivating courtside talk as we wrapped up our takeover. Jérôme D’Ambrosio, Driver Development Director of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, took center stage. Celebrating their decade-long partnership, IWC and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS hosted the talk on their very own basketball court. D’Ambrosio, a seasoned racing professional, provided valuable insights into nurturing young talents and emphasized the team’s core values. Sporting the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team with a “Miami Pink” rubber strap, he exemplified the team’s dedication to performance.
The Miami Grand Prix™ takeover by IWC was a three-day extravaganza, blending sports, philanthropy, and empowerment. It reminded us that in the fast-paced world of racing, camaraderie, community engagement, and hoop dreams matter.
