Together with its longstanding retail partner Sincere Fine Watches, IWC Schaffhausen is set to debut its broadest retrospective exhibition in South East Asia yet.
Be immersed in the heritage of IWC Schaffhausen’s iconic Portugieser, Portofino and Pilot’s Watches families through a showcase of defining historical timepieces from the IWC Museum in Schaffhausen. On display is also a curation of rare ladies watches, some of which will make an appearance outside Switzerland for the first time.
Portugieser
Built in 1939 at the request of two Portuguese merchants seeking a large wristwatch with the precision of a pocket watch, the Portugieser is one of the oldest and best-known creations from IWC. No other watch family of the Swiss watch manufacturer incorporates so many of the technical tours de force of haute horlogerie, including the groundbreaking Sidérale Scafusia, Constant-Force Tourbillon and Grande Complication.
Portofino
Taking inspiration from the classic round gold watches that IWC produced in the ’50s and ’60s, the Portofino has captured the casual ease of the Mediterranean lifestyle with a touch of glamour since its debut in 1984. Named after the idyllic village on the Italian coast which gained fame as an exclusive holiday destination for the international jet-set, this watch family remains highly popular among men and women for its pure elegant aesthetic.
Pilot’s watches
IWC’s story in aviation began in 1936 with the Special Watch for Pilots, a robust timepiece designed to withstand the extreme environment of an airplane cockpit. More than 80 years on, the company’s Pilot’s Watches continue to honour the spirit of aviation with classics such as the Big Pilot’s Watch and the Mark XVIII, as well as meaningful special editions that pay tribute to Le Petit Prince – the most famous literary work of French author and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
18 Historical timepieces
