Portugieser Automatic 40 Edition "Chinese New Year"

IWC Schaffhausen welcomes the Year of the Water Rabbit with a special edition timepiece limited to 500 pieces. Featuring an ergonomic 40-millimetre stainless steel case with a beautiful finish, the Portugieser Automatic 40 Edition “Chinese New Year” impresses with a striking burgundy dial and gold-plated hands and appliques. Burgundy is a variation of the bright red colour typically seen during Lunar New Year celebrations. Symbolizing longevity, happiness, and success, red is also believed to bring good luck.

A glance at the IWC-manufactured 82200 calibre through the sapphire glass case back reveals the true highlight of this special edition: the gold-plated oscillating weight in the shape of a rabbit. Efficiently converting the movements on the wearer’s arm into energy for the mainspring, the automatic Pellaton winding system builds up a power reserve of 60 hours.

The case back ring displays the engraving of “2023 YEAR OF THE RABBIT”, another reminder of the festive occasion.

This special timepiece is delivered with two different calfskin straps: one in black, the other one with a charming burgundy colour gradation.
