Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Year of the Goat
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Year of the Goat combines a brushed titanium case and a black ceramic bezel with a gold-colored dial and black subdials. In Chinese culture, gold is associated with fortune, prosperity and prestige. The combination of gold and black lends this Performance Chronograph a softer and warmer character that reflects the traits traditionally associated with people born in the Year of the Goat, who are considered compassionate and caring, as well as elegant and gentle.
Positive Energy And The Beginning of a New Cycle
The gold-plated oscillating mass, visible through the sapphire glass case back, depicts a small herd of three goats. For thousands of years, three goats have served as a cultural symbol of bliss in China – a tradition that can be traced back to the legendary “Book of Changes”, in which “yang” – pronounced the same way as the word for goat – represents the counterpart to “yin” and symbolizes positive energy and the beginning of a new cycle. This special edition is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 caliber, which offers a power reserve of 46 hours, and is fitted with a black calfskin strap. Thanks to the integrated EasX-CHANGE® system, the strap can be exchanged at the touch of a button without the need for tools.

A symbol of strength, energy and freedom, the horse is seen as a bringer of success and good fortune. Limited to 500 pieces, this watch features a stainless steel case with a slender side profile and box-shaped sapphire crystals on the front and back. The burgundy dial, inspired by the auspicious red tones widely used in Lunar New Year celebrations, showcases the characteristic Portugieser dial layout with the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the power reserve display at 3 o’clock.
2025: Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 Year of the Snake
Following a time-honored tradition, IWC Schaffhausen welcomes the Lunar New Year with a special edition watch. The Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 Year of the Snake captivates with its burgundy dial, which harmonizes perfectly with the golden moon of its moon phase display. The serpent shaped oscillating mass is an artfully crafted homage to the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac.
The Year of the Wood Snake
29 January 2025 marks the beginning of the Year of the Wood Snake – a combination that will occur in the Chinese calendar for the first time since 1965. As the snake is associated with wisdom and agility, people born under this zodiac sign are considered wise, clever and courageous. Freestyle skier and IWC brand ambassador Eileen Gu perfectly represents this special edition.
The Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 Year of the Snake features a stainless steel case with a diameter of 37 millimeters and a burgundy dial. This unique shade of red symbolizes the vibrant color of fire, typically used to welcome the Lunar New Year in China. The golden moon and stars stand out against the burgundy backdrop and harmonize beautifully with the gold-plated hands and appliques.
A special highlight is hidden on the back: the 18-carat 5N gold oscillating mass is crafted in the shape of a snake, a nod to the Lunar New Year.
2024: A tale of strength
In Chinese culture, the Dragon is a symbol of power, courage and innovation.
The 2024 Portugieser Chronograph Year of the Dragon features a 41-millimetre stainless steel case and a burgundy dial with contrasting gold-plated hands and appliques. The gold-plated oscillating weight in the form of a majestic dragon is visible through the sapphire glass case back.
2023: The Year of the Rabbit
According to the Chinese Zodiac, rabbit years are characterized by peace, prosperity, and longevity. The 2023 Portugieser Automatic 40 Edition “Chinese New Year” Edition perfectly represents a year of optimism and abundance. Limited to 500 pieces, this special edition features a burgundy dial, combined with gold-plated hands and appliques.
A special highlight of this watch is visible only through the sapphire glass case back: The gold-plated oscillating weight takes on the shape of a rabbit.
2022: The Year of the Tiger
The 2022 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Chinese New Year” features a striking burgundy dial and a matching calfskin strap. The dial impresses with the iconic design in the style of an easy-to-read cockpit instrument, which has become the hallmark of IWC’s Pilot’s Watches.
However, the true highlight of this limited edition only becomes visible when turning the watch and marveling at the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre through the sapphire glass case back. The rotor of the automatic winding system takes the shape of a tiger. Depicted running and leaping, the tiger serves as a reminder of the coming year while emphasizing the traits of people born under the sign of this zodiac animal.
