IWC INTRODUCES THE THIRD GENERATION OF THE WORLD’S FIRST DIGITALIZED WATCHMAKER’S LOUPE AT WATCHES & WONDERS 2023

For over 150 years, IWC watchmakers have used traditional loupes until the manufacturer developed the Cyberloupe® - the world’s first digitalized watchmaker’s magnifying glass. It features a high-res camera and network connection, allowing live-streaming or recording of the watchmaker’s image. It’s used for remote instructions and training, and Augmented Reality (AR) technology displays relevant information while assembling a movement or servicing a timepiece. Continuous upgrades makes its applications in designing, manufacturing, and servicing mechanical watches virtually limitless. IWC’s Cyberloupe® is an innovative tool that revolutionizes the art of watchmaking.

INTEGRATED AR TECHNOLOGY

The Cyberloupe® 3.0 is a cutting-edge tool that combines advanced technology with a sleek and ergonomic design, making it the perfect companion for watchmakers in the 21st century. This new version of the Cyberloupe® has been completely redesigned to provide a more accessible and user-friendly experience for all its users.

One of the most exciting features of the Cyberloupe® 3.0 is its “Module 3” technology, which allows it to visualize information from different IT systems. This means that watchmakers can use the Cyberloupe® to access a wealth of technical and historical information about the components they are working on, without the need for cumbersome reference materials.

AUTOMATIC RECOGNITION OF WATCH COMPONENTS

But perhaps the most impressive feature of the Cyberloupe® 3.0 is its ability to automatically recognize components and display relevant information about them. This is a game-changer for watchmakers, who can now quickly and easily access information about the specific components they are working on, without the need for manual lookups.

To make the Cyberloupe® 3.0 more accessible, the design team focused on making the magnifier more ergonomic and user-friendly. They integrated functions like the light, lens change, and camera into a smaller and lighter magnifier, making it more comfortable to use for extended periods of time.

REMOTE TRAINING

The Cyberloupe® 3.0 is also highly versatile, with a USB-C plug that allows it to be connected to computers and other devices within seconds. This means that watchmakers can use it with widely used software like Teams and Zoom, making remote collaboration and training easier than ever.

Overall, the Cyberloupe® 3.0 is an exciting new tool that combines advanced technology, ergonomic design, and user-friendly features to provide watchmakers with everything they need to work more efficiently and effectively. With its innovative features and versatile design, the Cyberloupe® 3.0 is sure to become an indispensable tool for watchmakers around the world.

IWC CYBERLOUPE MILESTONES

2021: Cyberloupe® 2.0

The Cyberloupe® 2.0 was upgraded with an Augmented Reality (AR) function, allowing it to display information on a small screen before the watchmaker’s eye. In addition, the new version could be adjusted in all three dimensions for a perfect and ergonomic fit on the head. Depending on the watchmaker’s preference, the lens could be positioned in front of the right or left eye.

2020: Cyberloupe® 1.0

The first version of the Cyberloupe® was introduced at Watches and Wonders in Shanghai in 2020. Its digital camera captured the watchmaker’s view and could record photos or videos. Thanks to the integrated network connection, the camera footage could be live-streamed to any device, enabling people anywhere in the world to observe the watchmaker’s work in real-time.
