The Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX: 360-degree cockpit tour

Silver Spitfire pilot Matt Jones invites you inside a Spitfire for a first-hand look at what makes this famous plane fly. Join him for a 360-degree tour below.

Get a closer look at the iconic Spitfire airplane without leaving home. Pilot Matt Jones leads you through a 360-degree experience in the cockpit of a Supermarine Spitfire MK IX, the famous aircraft developed in the 1930s which quickly became iconic due to its innovative design and engineering.

Jones invites you into the cockpit, where not only can you see a full view of the instrument panel but also see the tight confines in which pilots had to operate. You will then be treated to a tour of the cockpit, including full explanations of the instrument panel features and their functions step-by-step.

Start your journey in the video below. To ensure the best experience, follow these easy steps:

  • DESKTOP: Use your mouse to get a 360-degree look at the Spitfire’s instrument panel.
  • MOBILE: Open the video in the YouTube app, not the browser, and use the 360-degree video player inside app to take the tour.
— Silver Spitfire pilot Matt Jones

Jones, along with co-pilot Steve Boultbee Brooks are honoring this quintessential aircraft by taking a restored Spitfire on a round-the-world journey, calling the expedition “Silver Spitfire – The Longest Flight”, and IWC is joining them for the ride. We are co-sponsoring Brooks and Jones’ flight as they cover more than 43,000 km and visit approximately 26 countries starting August 18th.
