Aurel Bacs: Lessons from a “proper watch”

The Journal sits down with watch auctioneer Aurel Bacs to discuss the upcoming Geneva, Hong Kong and New York watch auctions by Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo and how his love of timepieces was sparked at an early age.

An intriguing selection of timeless IWC timepieces are set to go on the block, including an extremely rare Portugieser (reference 325) from the 1930s.  Heading the Geneva Watch Auction: EIGHT on November 10th and 11th, the Hong Kong Watch Auction on November 27th, and the New York Watch Auction on December 5th - presented by Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo – is the watch auctioneer Aurel Bacs.

 

The man who is the epitome of a timepiece connoisseur sat down with the Journal to discuss the upcoming Phillips auction, his career and how his first “proper watch” -  an IWC by the way - sparked his life-long love of mechanical watches.
