Celebrating 50 Years of Gérald Genta’s Ingenieur SL

In 1976, IWC Schaffhausen introduced the Ingenieur SL, designed by Gérald Genta. Today, Reference 1832 ranks among the most sought-after watches in IWC’s history. This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Geneva-based designer and artist’s creation with two limited editions of the Ingenieur Automatic.

Silver-Plated Dials With a Distinctive Brushed Finish

Available in 40 and 35-millimeter case sizes, both anniversary editions are distinguished by their silver-plated dials with a striking brushed finish, inspired by a rare variant of the Ingenieur SL from the 1970s. The Ingenieur logo on the dial subtly incorporates the number “50” as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Gérald Genta’s design.

Gérald Genta’s Ingenieur SL, Ref 1832, was launched in 1976 as the leader model of IWC’s SL collection, which comprised several luxury sports watches with cases and bracelets made of stainless steel.
