Ingenieur Tourbillon 41

With the new Ingenieur, IWC Schaffhausen revisits Gérald Genta’s bold and visionary design from the 1970s, combining it with enhanced ergonomics and an exceptionally high level of finishing. The Ingenieur Tourbillon 41 crowns this evolution with the undisputed “queen of complications”: the tourbillon. Limited to 100 pieces, the watch features a 41.6-millimetre case with an integrated bracelet made of 18-carat 5N gold.

The bezel, crown guard and crown are also crafted from this precious metal and are satin-finished with polished edges. The five functional screws are made of 18-carat Armor Gold®, a material that offers significantly higher hardness values than conventional gold alloys. The structured dial with the characteristic “grid” pattern adds depth and texture to the watch, while the dark olive-green hue creates an elegant contrast with the gold.

Gold-plated hands and solid gold appliqués that are individually set by hand complete the refined appearance. The highlight on the dial is the flying minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

Suspended from gold-plated bridges, it creates a striking visual effect. Thanks to the integrated tourbillon stop, the mechanism can be brought to a complete stop, allowing the watch to be set with down-to-the-second accuracy. Comprising 56 individual components, the tourbillon weighs just 0.635 grams.

The pallet fork and escape wheel are treated with Diamond Shell® technology, an innovative coating that reduces friction and improves the flow of energy in the movement. The Ingenieur Tourbillon 41 is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82905 calibre. The movement features a Pellaton winding system reinforced with virtually wear-free ceramic components.

Using movements of the rotor in both directions, it reliably builds up a power reserve of 80 hours in the mainspring. The automatic bridge and rotor are gold-plated and decorated with Geneva stripes. The oscillating mass features a “Probus Scafusia” medallion made of gold.
