IWC Brand Ambassador Eileen Gu presents the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” (Ref. IW389105) featuring a snow-white ceramic case.
Eileen Gu turned out to be the biggest star of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Winning gold for halfpipe and big air, as well as silver for slopestyle, the 18-year-old became the first freestyle skier or action sports athlete to earn three medals in a single Olympics. With an impressive following of 6.5 million on China’s Weibo and 1.5 million on Instagram, Eileen intends to use her voice and her social media platform to promote skiing and a healthy lifestyle.
It does not come as a surprise, therefore, that the incoming Ivy League student who speaks fluent Mandarin attracted nearly 28 million viewers during her livestream presentation of the new IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” at Watches & Wonders 2022. The choice to invite the IWC brand ambassador to introduce this particular model was obvious: It was at Lake Tahoe, where Eileen first put on skis.

ABOUT HER FIRST SKIING ATTEMPTS
“I was only three months old when I went to Lake Tahoe for the first time. My mom loves skiing, so she used to go there to ski sometimes. While she was skiing, I was with my grandma because I was too little. I started skiing at the age of three, because there was an age limit at the skiing training school. Since then, I started skiing at Lake Tahoe for many years and joined the ski team there at the age of eight.”
ABOUT LAKE TAHOE
“Lake Tahoe is a fun place, you know, there is a big lake in the middle of that area, and there are many ski resorts around the lake. At some resorts you can even enjoy the fantastic view of the lake while skiing. During the winter, people go there to ski; while during the summer, it is a very beautiful place for golfing, running, cycling or hiking, climbing, swimming, or just having a picnic. Lake Tahoe is incredible any time of year.”

For example, when I do double cork 1620 in competition, I have to be very precise as well. So, I think the will to endure throughout times and the dedication to pursue perfection are some things IWC and I have in common.”
