THE COLORS OF TOP GUN:
MOJAVE DESERT
COLORS ENTER TOP GUN
In 2019, Mojave Desert marked the first use of colored ceramic in IWC’s TOP GUN collection. Colored ceramics are created in a sophisticated process in which zirconium oxide is mixed with other metallic oxides and sintered at high temperatures in a kiln. Because the color changes during the furnace process, it takes countless trials and a lot of experience to find the right mixture.
THE COLORS OF TOP GUN: MOJAVE DESERT
An earth color, with notes of beige, and khaki: “Mojave Desert” is inspired by flight suits and the barren desert landscape around China Lake, where the famous TOPGUN flight school is located. IWC and Pantone® specified this color as IWC Mojave Desert.
BORN IN THE DESERT
The Big Pilot's Watch TOP GUN Edition “Mojave Desert” features a monochromatic design. The dark brown dial and hands, the subdued printing and luminescent material, and the sand-colored rubber strap with textile inlay harmonize perfectly with the ceramic case.
PRECISION RELOADED
Delivering precision and endurance is the IWC-manufactured 52110 calibre. The automatic Pellaton winding system is reinforced with ceramic components and builds up a power reserve of seven days in two barrels – more than enough even on extended missions.
FROM PERFORMANCE TO FASHION
Colored ceramics are a powerful statement, also for seven-time FIA Formula One™ World Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton. The material illustrates the evolution of IWC TOP GUN from a line primarily focused on performance to a style statement and expression of a distinct lifestyle.
