RACING-INSPIRED CHRONOGRAPHS LINE UP ON THE GRID
IWC Schaffhausen has an extensive legacy of manufacturing instrument watches, typified by their high robustness and accuracy. Performance aspects such as precision, robustness and durability are therefore deeply ingrained in IWC Schaffhausen’s DNA. With the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41, IWC Schaffhausen now presents a chronograph that is engineered to perform in any environment and designed for easy operation and enhanced legibility. The version in titanium is dedicated to IWC Schaffhausen’s partner Mercedes-AMG, the one in Ceratanium® pays tribute to the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team.

UNDERSCORING IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN’S UNIQUE TITANIUM EXPERTISE
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG features a case, case back ring, crown and pushers crafted from titanium. Offering the highest strength-to-density ratio of any metal, titanium is also used in automotive engineering to manufacture components for high-performance engines. The grade 5 titanium alloy used here is about 45 percent lighter than steel and remarkably rigid. The case features a brushed finish with polished details on the horns. One version is fitted with a durable and waterproof black rubber strap with a titanium pin buckle. The second one features a titanium bracelet with polished center links.

COMBINING THE ADVANTAGES OF TITANIUM AND CERAMICS
COMBINING THE ADVANTAGES OF TITANIUM AND CERAMICS
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team sports a case, case back ring, crown and pushers made of Ceratanium®. Based on a special titanium alloy, this IWC Schaffhausen-developed material combines the lightness and structural integrity of titanium with a hardness and scratch resistance similar to ceramic. After machining, the components are finished by hand and fired in a kiln. During this oven process, the surface obtains properties similar to ceramic and a striking matte black finish.
A TACHYMETER SCALE ADDS THE DIMENSION OF SPEED
A TACHYMETER SCALE ADDS THE DIMENSION
OF SPEED
An outstanding functional feature of the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 is the ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale. It allows the wearer to measure the average speed in relation to the distance travelled. Pushing the chronograph start button initiates a measurement. Once a distance of one kilometer has been covered, the chronograph is stopped. The central chronograph seconds hand will point to a number on the revolving tachymeter scale, corresponding to the average speed in kilometers per hour.
A MASTERPIECE OF CRAFTSMANSHIP AND FINISHING
A MASTERPIECE OF CRAFTSMANSHIP AND FINISHING
Matching the polished black ceramic bezels, all models feature black dials with a glossy finish. The polished black lacquer finish is the result of an elaborate, highly controlled and perfected process. The three totalizers are individually finished and printed before they are mounted on the lacquered base plate to create the final dial. The tiny appliqués for the indices and numerals are individually polished by hand, fixed to the dial and then filled with Super-LumiNova®.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE CHRONOGRAPH ENGINE INSIDE
HIGH-PERFORMANCE CHRONOGRAPH ENGINE INSIDE
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 is powered by the IWC Schaffhausen-manufactured 69385 calibre, which comprises 242 individual parts and has been engineered with a focus on robustness, reliability, and precision. Column-wheel control ensures that individual phases in the chronograph’s switching sequence are clearly defined. There is also a distinct tactile resistance when the buttons are pushed. These movements are assembled in a dedicated line and thoroughly tested at IWC Schaffhausen’s Manufakturzentrum. For example, all relevant functions are tested in the IWC Schaffhausen-developed FIM cell (final inspection movement) for 12 full days.
LIVING PERFORMANCE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS
LIVING PERFORMANCE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS
The performance ethos that is expressed through IWC Schaffhausen’s products is also reflected through the brand’s partnerships. In 2004, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer became a partner of Mercedes-AMG, the performance car subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz. The partnership marks one of the longest-running collaborations between a Swiss watchmaker and an automotive engineering company. As a logical continuation, IWC Schaffhausen became the “Official Engineering Partner” of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team in 2013.
