The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon combines two high complications. The perpetual calendar recognizes the different month lengths and the leap years. Conceived to minimise the effects of gravity on the watch’s oscillating system, the tourbillon contributes to a more precise rate.

51000 calibre family

The large movements in the IWC-manufactured 51000 calibre family boast a long power reserve. Their bidirectional Pellaton winding system is reinforced with components made of virtually wear-free ceramic and builds up a power reserve of 168 hours (7 days) in the mainspring. The balance wheel with a Breguet spring oscillates at a frequency of 2.75 hertz (19,800 vibrations per hour).

Where time flies.

Ask watchmakers, and one thing is soon clear: their favourite complication is the tourbillon. At the same time, it is one of the most demanding.
