The Aquatimer Automatic 2000 Edition “35 years Ocean 2000” Story

The Ocean 2000 was created by Ferdinand A. Porsche in 1982. With its avant-garde design, the extremely pressure-resistant diver’s watch was years ahead of its time. This style icon is celebrating its 35th anniversary with the launch of the Aquatimer Automatic 2000 Edition “35 Years Ocean 2000”. Despite a case height of just 14.5 millimetres, this watch can be relied on during dives of up to 2000 metres, making it the thinnest deep-sea diver’s watch in IWC’s Aquatimer collection. This engineering tour de force was made possible partly by the improved shape of the titanium case. Characteristic design codes such as the black dial, luminescent hands and indices and the red tip on the seconds hand were inspired by the Ocean 2000. The striking recessed grips on the bezel and the ridged rubber strap are reminiscent of the original model from 1982. As with all Aquatimer models, the technical features of this watch include the SafeDive system designed to prevent inadvertent changes of the dive time and the convenient bracelet quick-change system.
