IWC Schaffhausen launched the Big Pilot’s Watch in 2002. Inspired by historical observation watches and characterized by its large case and oversized conical crown, the model has evolved from a “tool watch” to a cultural icon.
COCKPIT INSTRUMENT LOOK
The high-contrast dials are modeled after functional cockpit instruments. Large Arabic numerals, bold luminous markings and sword-shaped hands ensure perfect readability.
52000 calibre family
The IWC-manufactured 52000 calibre family comprises large automatic movements. The highly efficient Pellaton winding system uses movements of the rotor in both directions to build up a power reserve of 168 hours (7 days) in two barrels. Components that are subject to high stresses, such as the automatic wheel and the clicks, are made of virtually wear-free ceramic. The balance oscillates at a frequency of 4 hertz (28'800 vibrations per hour).
